Explore US breweries per capita
When it comes to craft brew lovers, Vermont is the undisputed leader with 82 craft breweries. That’s 14.2 breweries per capita (per 100,000 adults over 21 years and older) representing over 178 pints of beer per Vermonter! That’s almost 70 pints more then it’s nearest competitor. Beer sales are also an important economic driver contributing over $750 in economic impact per person in the Green Mountain State. There is hope for other states seeking to catch up, as the leader Vermont, may soon hit is saturation point. As Bart Watson, the Chief Economist for the Brewer Association points out, “This growth trend can only continue for so long,” Watson said. “Not every business in the state can be a brewery.” The craft brew industry has experienced explosive nationwide growth over the past decade with 8,266 registered breweries in the US in 2019 and counting. 85% of Americans now live within 10 miles of a brewery. **Sources** * [Vermont leads nation in breweries and beer production per capita](https://vtdigger.org/2019/01/14/vermont-leads-nation-breweries-per-capita) - VT Digger * [State Craft Beer Sales & Production Statistics, 2019](https://www.brewersassociation.org/statistics-and-data/state-craft-beer-stats/)- Brewer’s Association
